Here is my setup on my 2+2

I had no idea you had a 2+2 also!

Thanks for that photo. It looks like my bracket is just bent then. I should be able to grab a vice grip and bend it back into place.

Well I bent my trunk light switch bracket a little and it works now! That was easy.

I splashed some e85 in last night (turned out to be like e65 since I had a a little e20 in the tank), blended it to e55 and took it for a quick spin to dial in the shift light. Good news is the shift light is pretty bright and easy to see so it will be helpful to not miss shifts.

I also did a quick check that my tune was adding timing and fuel like it should. Looks like it is. It seems lean, I need to add some fuel to the VE table and take timing out. 17 degrees on 9.5 psi on flex isn't outrageous, but more than I want for roughing in the tune for sure. I think it's commanding too much fuel add since 9 Afr is too rich for e55 but its sitting at low 12 which is good on gas but too lean on the e mix i am running.

I have the 245's (fronts) on the rear for the drive to the track. On these quick blip test passes I was wondering why it was spinning in like the top of 3rd gear, it's never done that. Well turns out the tune was a bit more spicy than I usually ran so it's probably making enough extra power that it's noticeable.

IAT's are nice and reasonable at 110F and thats recycling underhood air, when I put my intake tube in that grabs air through the headlight hole in the core support it should be even lower.

I am going to be dodging some rain storms Saturday at the track so here is hoping it stays dry. It;s an 1/8 mile track so if I get into the low 7's I should be in the 11.50 range which is what the class i am registered for is capped to since I don't have a cage.

My ultimate goal is to run 10.99 with the car. If I run anything below a 7 in the 1/8 that almost grantees that it should go 10's.

Made it to the track and back without issue. 180 mile round trip. Rain postponed the track opening this morning and I dodged some sprinkles on the way there but it stayed dry enough to race.

Overall it's a win. I got my timing where it's safe 14 degrees at 9.5 psi, fueling is nice and stable up top, 77% injector duty cycle on e65 so there should be enough headroom for a bit more e and boost.

First pass I bogged it out of the hole, not in 2 step

2nd I turned the 2 step to 3100 launch rpm, bogged

3rd 2 step at 3500, spun

4th 2 step at 3400, bogged

5th I tried letting out the clutch slower instead of just dumping it but the way the 2step is set up it ramped power in faster and spun worse

6th it hooked at 3500 and just slightly shook the tire, best 60ft of 1.78

7th it spun slightly at 3500 and best et of 7.75 and best mph.

8th I spun worse and tried to drive though it but I missed the 2nd gear shift

Then they shut down for the day.

Overall I left off basically where I was as my best 2 years ago when I snapped my axle. That's a successful run in my book.

It's a bit frustrating that I'm on such a fine line for launch. It either shakes the tires or spins with no real change in setup. 3400 bog, 3500 shake, light spin or moderate spin. I really need someone who just knows how to launch a stick car to advise me.

I ran tire psi at 17.8, seems right since it's not spinning every time and not shaking every time.

Tires didn't hit anything and for the first time ever the car ran 2 good 60ft clean passes back to back without breaking anything.

I only have 9.5psi and 14 degrees in it with post cooler iat's in the 120-125 range. I don't see why the car won't take another 1-2 psi and another 4 degrees so there should be more power there.

I'm 0.04 seconds off my best 60 ft time but these runs have me putting 3 mph more on at the 1/8 than where I was last time I had the car out. That's huge considering the car put on 28mph in the last half when I raced the 1/4 last time. If that trend holds it should trap over 125mph in the 1/4. For sure putting the power down.

I have a utilitarian G body that would be great to take on a long trip and fit all my stuff without problem.

But I'm not taking it. Instead I am taking my non utilitarian car 🙂

Leave for Drag Weekend Friday AM. Race in Wisconsin Friday, Illinois Saturday and Iowa Sunday.

Here's hoping I can get it running mid 11's consistently and then shoot for the 10's! Also, I hope the driveline stays together this time. 2 of the 2 times I have taken this car I ended up with a broken rear end.

I hope it's a great trip. Looking forward to the story.

520 miles today. I'm not physically beat up and neither is Dad so that's a win. Comfy seats, decent sealing weatherstripping, relatively mild exhaust and ac when I need it makes the car pretty reasonable to sit in.

Car shut off about 350 miles in and didn't restart. Lost fuel pump. Looked and the fuse had melted on the outside. Swapped fuse and on the way again.

Another 50 miles in driving through a town in Wisconsin it overheated. Fan quit. Dad and I chased it around a bit and decided the breaker I have for the fan was just getting too hot. I run the dual intrepid fans on high both though the same relay and it's overheated like this 3 times. 2 on drag weekend. Dad suggested unplugging the 2nd fan and running one. That seemed to do it. Stays cool and doesn't overload the circuit.

Got to Great Lakes Dragaway outside milwaukee. Ran a 12.01 followed by a 11.97 at 118. Fiddled trying different launch strategy but didn't find anything that works. Street tire cars got on the track and the crew wasn't prepping the surface any so the other runs were kinda nogos in the mid 12's.

Intake air temp post blower are semi ok, 120f at the start and 140f at the end of the track so I feel ok upping the boost and seeing if the cooler keeps up. I'm only on 10 psi.

The rest of the few days drive isn't nearly as bad. 40ish cars were registered and 17 dropped out, yikes. Have mid 20's this year which is the same crew as usually shows up it seems. 3 cars broke town today. One smacked the oil pan on a bridge on the highway and 2 broke at the track. Ctsv snapped a half shaft and the 442 lost the weight on the flywheel and it projectiled it through the bell housing.

Rear end is still in the car and rods are in the block so it's mostly good so far.

I know on a race weekend isn't the time to make oodles of changes, but try adding 2-4 psi and cutting 5-6 degrees of timing. The timing will cut the peanuts out if it. Then bring the timing back on 1-2 degrees at a time.

I'm no expert, but I've found that works with mine (turbo not bower), but I'm still dialing. Trust me, you'll know when you've cut the timing too far at launch - it truly won't go. What are you using for two step/launch control?

Best of luck and keep us posted!! 🙂

The car trapped 95 in the 1/8 2 weeks ago with 15 degrees. It has 13 now and trapped 92.5 which is identical to my trap 2 weeks ago on the same timing.

I'll plan to take your suggestion and cut timing when I add boost. Probably 4 degrees and then work up.

Im using a linenfelter lc003 2 step.
