On any vehicle I get one of the first upgrades is lighting, they were terrible on the Monte and now I never even need to use the second set of headlights for highs. What style did you go with?
I always have mixed feelings about those kind of upgrades.

The entire reason for having "low beams" that are dimmer and don't shine as high/far as the high beams isn't for you, it's for the other drivers to be able to operate safely without
being blinded.

When a car like that is following behind me, blinding me, I usually force them to pass, put on my high beams, and follow just as closely behind them so they can feel it.

If it's an oncoming car I just turn my.high beams on until they pass.

I hate those blinding headlights too.

They're just another manifestation of the ME ME ME ME ME culture. Too many times people only think, hey, what can I do that's all about me, and forget to stop and think, hey, is this a good idea or safe for everyone around me?

Kind of like idiots riding around on public roads with those LED light bars on

The best part is when you get high beams flashed at your lows..... "oh yeah, mf'er? Get some of these!"

I have been a light upgrade guy since the 90s even if it was just going Xenon back then, to me there is always such a difference. People who get in even a stock vehicle with HID's are always amazed and say wow what a difference. Back then just how it would light the signs around so much better and look different was nice to me, now when I buy something with the 80s tech I have to upgrade. Like it was seriously dangerous to drive the Monte at night because of how little light even upgraded halogens were putting out.
I originally didn't have my headlights aimed right because the adjusters were screwed up, but now I have them aimed down but I still get the high beam flash because it is such a stronger light. I have to get used to being ready to flash back and show them what high beams really are, to be honest most times I want to do it because the person coming towards me has the high beams on and they think they are normal. That way I can show them what it really is to have our high beams on

I agree. I felt it was more dangerous to drive my Cutlass with those old dim halogens than it is now that I have LEDs. The LEDs I have now give off the same exact light that my newer Ford Mustang our Buick Enclave does. No blinding at all, any good legit aftermarket headlights have a decent cut off line.
I didn’t realize how much of the road I actually couldn’t see with even the upgraded Halogens until I went LED.

Yeah I agree here too. I Do what makes me happy, and don’t dump on other people’s rides. My 85 442 looks almost all stock on the exterior, but underneath has most of the tech upgrades, EFI, Bluetooth, usb, all LED lighting, etc. AC still works of course and has some slight upgrades.

My younger boys are starting to get into cars, but it’s hard getting them into “older” GMs...not because they don’t like the cars, but a lot of the old timers who dump on anything new turns them off to the hobby. And I agree, at car shows, Internet forums, etc, a lot of these guys attitudes turn me off too haha. And older guy (older than me) was trashing Grand Nationals the other day because they “couldn’t hold a candle” to his 67 Chevelle or whatever.
