I retired at 55, 10/1/99 after working for 34 years at a G.M. assembly plant in Kansas City. I started working there just a few months after getting out of the Navy in 1965.
I was having trouble with my right shoulder so I figured it was a good time to leave.
Really strange feeling going out the door and driving home for the last time.

Only problem is that I don't float. People don't believe me, but I truly dont.

You too?!

And what's even funnier, and more ironic, is I grew up on a lake and have swam my whole life. I just can't do it for too long because I can't stop, otherwise I sink. LOL

I remember from my SCUBA lessons that your body fat is what determines how well you float. So technically fat people float easily. Are you skinny ? Also the amount of air in your lungs will float you. I used to show my Grandson the affect by taking a deep breath and holding it in, floating, then exhaling and sinking like a rock.

I have met people like that and also what we called bubble butts. When I used to dive some needed a ton of weight and others didn't.

Permanent Temporary
This thread was about hope, not despair. Having a better morning today, I'll point out that despite all the pain and suffering, if you all have built yourself a satisfying car, go for a ride. For those of us hoping fir a better tomorrow, get on it and finish something. You can't drive it if it doesn't go and stop by itself.

For that you only need 3 things:

A car, a big hill, and a rock wall at the bottom.

Um yeah. 6' and 145lbs and air doesn't help me enough. Trust me, I've tried.
