I rode in a 6.0/4l80e 3/4 ton burb w/a small Whipple. Instant torque & acceleration velocity was impressive for the vehicle size. Not sure how well it functions for towing as he wasn't towing anything for the brief ride along & I didn't inquire. All I could think of after was the same drivetrain in a 2k# lighter Malibu

Well that literally is how they make power, more in the mid range and upper RPM.

I don't like that in a truck, the boosted old stuff makes excellent low end torque for the displacement. When towing, it's no worse on fuel than an LS. Anything with 8 lugs takes a lot of force to move. I do still want to 6.0 swap the 1500 though as I have a 2.9L Kenne Bell on the shelf that will more than cover the losses in low end of the stock motor.

A guy who races in my class tows with a Whippled crew cab 2500, 05ish truck. Seems to get it done in OD.
