So I have an 85 Regal Project I planning to paint, bought it with a silver vinyl wrap.
I saw pictures of a nice buick regal in light blue metallic but while looking for the paint code I see two different paint codes labeled the same name one is WA8533 (22) and the other is WA8574 (25). Does anyone know the difference between these two?

WA8533 (22) is light blue metallic that list in my PPG book calls for it to have a clear coat & was used on Buick. Olds, Pontiac & Cadillac. WA8574 (25) is also light blue metallic but doesn't call for clear coat & used on Chevy, Buick, Olds, Pontiac & Cadillac. Keep in mind this is for the OE paint. Both are very close to each other which to the average person would never really see the difference. In the chip bookone can see a slight variance as the page is moved around in the light.

Those are super close colors to each other. Both used on everything EXCEPT Chevy. Chevy did not use code 22.

From the factory, code 25 was used on Regal in 85 and 86. Code 22 was used on electra/Park Avenue, and Somerset, Skylark and LeSabre

You guys are awesome thanks for the knowledge this helps me a ton, sounds like I want to go with 22, to have the clear coat done on it, otherwise its close enough in color not to matter.

Thanks again.

You can get the 25 light blue in a base coat/clear coat formula too these days. About all paint systems have single & base coat formulas for most older formulas. to help in the final choice, compair the price of each shade as with them being so close. Depending on what tints used in each the price per amount may be different.
