Can anyone suggest any long tube headers for a 5.3 that won't require modifications to fit? I know the hooker blackhearts were the best, but they do not make them anymore. I heard about speed engineering ones, however it seems those require modifications. I also heard about some S-10 specific ones that may fit without clearance issues? Or should I be considering mid-length headers instead?

Check out American racing headers. I have their 1 7/8 sbc headers on my car and they fit perfectly 👌🏻

Ended up ordering speed engineering 1-7/8" long tubes. They seem to have good reviews, but will still need some massaging. For the money I don't think there is anything that comes close.

Im in the same situation as you are, Im also considering ordering same headers from SPEED ENGINEERING, have you had a chance to fit them and/or notice any issues you might run into. Please let me know as i am also searching for best fit headers. Thank You

i have the speed engineering and they need a little bit of massaging but for the price they are great

I didn't get a chance to fit the headers yet, but from what everyone posted online, they take some massaging to fit. Only thing I am a little concerned about is this weld missing on the inside of one of the primaries. It has the outside weld all the way around, and the rest of the primaries are welded inside and outside:

Wouldn't the exact type of vehicle/ transmission to be fitted need to be known to know what the fit will be like?
For example I have a 6.0 in a 1985 442 with a turbo 350. I've heard hookers are the best fit?

Part number/price?

The only headers that will fit with NO massaging are the ones that are “custom made” to fit your car. $$$$. I ordered headers for my year Malibu with my engine/trans combo and guess what….they needed massaging. But because we’re car guys (and gals) we will do what ever is necessary to make our enjoyment of GBody’s happen.

Part number/price?
$350
