Never heard of that. White glass is what I was told, at least until the mid year vettes. The last shop I worked in used to do a lot of vettes before my old boss got sick, so I picked his brain a bit.

Was out in Allentown for a meeting today, so I was able to finally meet up with the guy that had the UMI springs. This car desperately needs to be lower.

So I put the exhaust on tonight. Unfortunately the pypes violater mufflers are a bit too loud for a stock 350 Chevy. Looks like I’m in the market for some new mufflers.

Thrush Hush 17634 are the quietest I've found. They're on my 5.3L swap. They were like $40/ea when I bought them. Gotta shop around.

I personally have only worked on a couple, but I picked the brains of a bunch of old timers that have worked on plenty. My old boss loved doing vettes, unfortunately he can really no longer do the work.
I’ve noticed that whatever is in the glass in these old Vettes irritates my skin more than any other glass I’ve messed with. Boats and cars barely bother me, but this crap gets me bad.
I’m not 100% sure what the brown stuff in the seams is. I just know if you want an original looking car, you leave it alone so the seams ghost through. If you want a smooth car, without the ghost seams, grind it out and glass over them. The consensus is that duraglas or plastic filler won’t work. I’m really just using the duraglas to fill pinholes. I should uses more mat and resin, but I’m cheating a little.

Had a little time today, after swapping star caliper out on my wife’s car, so I decided to mess with the car. I ran it and watched the top of where the dipstick went into the block, and oil was coming out from where the dipstick entered the block after about 5 minutes of running. I decided to move around the vacuum lines, so I could hook up the pcv system. Started it up and I only had a couple drops. I then checked the valve cover again, and it loosened up a little. Boom a couple drops, which I think was residual. I took it around the block, then let it run a little while. I was satisfied, so I shut it off. Apparently, I let it run a little too long. See I left the fan off, because I haven’t set the timing exact yet. So once I shut it off, the rad pushed some coolant out of the cap. Didn’t feel too hot, but I guess it was. Fired it up after it cooled, and it seemed all good.

I had to move the car today, so I can get the vette out tomorrow. My son heard it start and ran out, he wanted to go for a ride. I figured what the hell, I’ve taken it around the block without issue, so I let him hop in. Right away he wanted to go further and is already asking if we can take it to a car show. He’s hooked. I have a lot of work to make this car something that even I would drive to a cruise night.

Everyone is always too hard on their own stuff, take the boy to a cruise night and you'll probably be surprised at the people who think it is cool just how it is

The whole dash is apart, I had to remove a dealer installed alarm. Console is out as well. Steering column is loose. Front tires are old trailer tire. Front windshield is cracked across. And the drivers side window is half tinted, half removed. Sketchy as hell right now. It was a small block in a quiet neighborhood, so it was safe.
