What did you buy for your G-body today? [2024]

I know about that hiccup thanks to a bit of back and forth with Scott from BigBrakeUpgrade. Almost took some Camaro rotors the seller has but that would’ve locked me in to keeping the Blazer spindles. (Scott’s adapter brackets for the Blazer spindles can be ordered for the higher hat depth rotors.)

Looking at his 1LE bearing equipped hubs as a personal Christmas present….

And nice to see they clear 17 inch wheels up front
I'm running his brackets and hubs also. I was going to do the 1LE bearings, I was even thinking about his billet hubs at the time. I've had this setup for a little over 3 years now, I don't think he offers the billet hub anymore. I knew ultimately I wanted to order the Wilwood hubs later down the road to be able to run 5x4.5 pattern just to make it easier to find wheels. I've definitely been happy with the setup. Never had a single issue and I daily drove it 60miles a day for a while. At the time I was running Blazer rear disk with the stock prop valve. Always stopped really well even emergency stops at "excessive" highway speeds.
As for the 17s it did clear but those were 17x4.5 Skinnies which have decent brake clearance. I never tried any other 17s, I later switched to 18's and my new wheels are also 18's but I only currently have the rears so we'll see how well they new fronts fit.

It feels so nice. My only concern is that aluminum side of it. hopefully it doesn't turn blistering hot in the sun. Years ago my brother had a Billet Specialties steering wheel and it was untouchable if you got in the car around noon. Literally had to drive with a rag over it.
That's me with the seatbelts in the coupe. I have to pull it out and leave it on the seat bottom with a shop rag over it to avoid the burning hot stainless buckle covers

I bought a set of Blazer spindles and related parts. Now one of these days, I might just get around to buying a car to use them on...

actually, this is a good point. I was recently looking for 5x4.75 wheels on CL and FBMP and they JUST DON'T EXIST! I actually like the original wheels from the 70-80s but people either want insane money for them in junkyard condition or, more usually, they've been hacked up to fit 5x120 by stretching the lug holes. Even aftermarket wheels have been hacked to make them fit from "5x120 <--> 5x120.65" wheel bolt patterns. And I refuse to run a dual bolt pattern wheel since those seem to be the most beat up and I wouldn't trust them with my life unless (maybe) brand new.

which brings us to the question, what would be the "most common bolt pattern" in the 14"-17" sizes?

Most common wheels I see period regardless of size is 5x114
The main issue is most of what you see out there won’t work for us offset/backspace wise.
All new vehicles run super high offsets.
Even buying new wheels specs are limited to high offsets. Unless you go towards the pricier stuff or custom 2/3 piece wheels
For it was an easy choice. I have a 8.8 with the Ford pattern, the wilwood hubs is a no brainer.
I already picked some new wheels. I have the rears but fronts are back ordered till Jan.

I’m looking at the ones above and the ones in the “for sale” section and they look to be the same ones. I’ll need to keep a better eye on the “for sale” section.

I pieced together a bumpsteer correction kit with parts from Day Motorsports and grabbed some new inner tie rod ends from Rock Auto.

The tie rods were a closeout item ($8) and while I typically prefer Moog I've read that the Mevo Supremes are the same, re-boxed part. I also read that the Moogs had terribly inferior dust boots that disintegrate too early.

While on The Rock I bought some $2 Raybestos brass screen transmission filters, $3 K&N oil filters, 18 lug nuts for 47¢ each, a Cardone 641013 vacuum pump for $55, a BBB power steering pump w/reservoir $32, a Spectra heater core for only $17, and various other items. Man, I love wholesaler closeouts!

I then swung over to the jungle where I picked up some speaker wire, thermoplastic heater hose clamps, a coil spring compressor, a Rockville bluetooth receiver, and some interior related items.

And no shopping spree is complete without a stop at eBay, where I found a set of seatbelts, hose finishers, trim items, and new front upper and lower hard brake lines from Inline Tube.

Interested in those bump steer parts. Always struggled with that on this car.
I also interested in the receiver. I’ve been looking at some options. Torn between a nice big screen or a hidden Bluetooth deal.
Trying to plan out sound system for it. Thinking about getting the kick panel setup. The maybe the inserts in the side panels in the back seat, while deleting the package tray 6x9. Also undecided on subs, a couple 8’s or 10’s maybe or maybe just a single 12.
