What did you do to your G-Body today 2024

That’s not actually Bondo, it’s the factory applied seam sealer. I know because I’m currently in the midst of removing gobs of it from the same area on mine as well. I have a special hatred for the stuff, and for the ding dongs that carelessly smeared it everywhere with reckless abandon.

Their abuse of the stuff is nothing short of epic.
Well I'll be. I originally thought that myself, as almost everything on this car is original. But it seems as though during the roof repair or subsequent repaints someone tried smoothing the "outer" seams with body filler. The sealer inside the trunk was a nice yellow cream color but this stuff is pink with fingerprints in it where they mashed it into the trunk lid seams.

Don't forget to put some fresh seam sealer there too.
But of course! It's been leaking there for some time apparently and there was a fair amount of rust starting to show through the paint on the bottom. That was quickly disposed of and painted with plans of laying new sealer in a couple places tomorrow.
 
Took it to the shop to change the oil and install a pan mounted dipstick. Oil still has a bit of glitter to it, but it was in there for 200(ish) miles and I’ve been leaning on it hard for that 200. And the dipstick tube had the wrong adapter on it for the only port I have access to due to headers.

Was also fighting really twitchy steering for the past month or so, changed the center link and idler arm since they were shot, that helped turning left but turning right still had major issues. Just a small about of steering input nearly tripled the directional change in feeling, almost like the steering was going over center. Found the reason why when I got under the rear to check for leaks in the pit:

The spherical bearing’s locknut had backed off, fell off, and eventually wedged itself between the bearing and the control arm, shoving the bearing out and binding the arm up. I drove this for who knows how long too 😂
The arm, while marred up is fine. Everything moves freely and the steering twitch is gone. Guess it helps if your suspension actually moves like it’s supposed to!

Just got the car appraised for the insurance policy, should have the report by Wednesday next week. Plan to register the car on Thursday afternoon and get it to the alignment shop on Friday morning. Hopefully the plan comes together and I can put some miles on it over the weekend, it’s been a loooooong time! 🤞

I made sure to tighten the locknuts the first time around, but they’re just plain round aluminum so the only thing that fits is channel locks. Smeared some blue thread locker on it so hopefully it stays put now.
 
The car has had a rythmic pulsing vibration for a long time, feels like it's right under my feet and only pops up around 70. Does it in neutral too.

Installed the studs and clips. Hoping the adhesive comes in soon. I want to get those glass installed already.
Also tested out the rattle can to see how it dries.
