Some 130 SI alternator swap info

Got a cs144 in my regal. Used the idiot light as the resistor.

I've found that I had to re-clock the alternator. Also, used a rear mounting bracket from a 3rd generation Camaro. (CS130)
I also had to swap out the wider pulley for a V-belt type.

I believe the same bracket from the Camaro was also on the Corvette and S10 trucks. Some Caddy, Buick, Pontiac, and Oldsmobile could be had with a 15 or even 27SI alternator but good luck finding that bracket. Here's a useful link: http://www.madelectrical.com/electricaltech/delcoremy.shtml

I have a fair amount of screenshots with lists of other alternators if you guys are interested, and here's a few other pertinent shots:

Just for mentioning I had a malibu or some such car 30 years ago and it had the 100 amp altonator installed on it.To make a short story" the car boiled batterys you could smell the Sulphur ( acid)comeing from the battery and then in a few given weeks the battery acid would be low even to the plates... I put up with this for a couple 3 months .. addining acid smelling Sulphur....after which I installed a 70 amp altonator to say it ended the battery boiling is exactly what it did....no more acid fumes and no more low battery acid to fool with...go figger...

Sounds like the 100 amp alternator was defective. Any healthy alternator should adjust its output to prevent overcharging. Big high amp alternators will require thicker wires.

I suppose in after thoughts the battery itself may of had some porosity factor ? The extra amps exploited ".?.. I want to think I swoped a battery... but I will always remember the acid smell and topping off probably rinsing batt box area...

Both the battery and alternator could have been bad, often when one goes bad it takes the other component with it.
