What did you do to your non g-body project today [2025 edition]

Went and got insurance for the "new" truck before heading to get tags. I never made it to the tag office- the G Body requires attention and let me know it by killing the starter.

Struggled a bit putting a radio in. At first I thought the display was bad, turns out when you leave the doors open for two hours the battery goes dead. 😆
Broken the cheap plastic radio bezel thing and they don't produce any parts the color I need but it works I suppose.
Oddly like the factory setup, the radio is quieter than the tape deck.

Was looking for a two part adhesive for rigid plastics such as the trim pieces in car dashes or the center console housing and found this.

Label says suitable for PVC type plastics. If you managed to save the bits and pieces or the damage is just a crack or clean break, this might work for you. Like the url says, this can be found at Home Depot although I got mine at a local indy hardware store. Too cold in my shop right now to test the stuff on my console but just a-waiting the temps to climb a little.

Update: radio is still extremely hard to see in daylight, no lighting or display options on the radio. Plus it's quiet on radio mode but tape mode will blow your face off, comparatively. Odd.

It does have 2 sets of rca outs and a CD changer socket.

It's listenable but I'll probably swap in a different radio eventually.

Bypassed the fuel tank selector valve since it stuck open and starved the carb. I used compressed air to pinpoint the issue and got a few odd looks from my neighbors as I drove by with my portable compressor hooked to my gas cap to pressurize things. I also switched out the glove box & door as a unit rather than fix the old one. It had already been swapped, the latch was funky, and I had the correct color on the shelf. The red driver's side door with no glass got changed out to a blue one with a dead window motor. At least the rain isn't making the seat wet.

Cut the muffler off 😀, replaced some vacuum lines, diagnosed the carb: sputtering accelerator pump + bad filter, tried to figure out some hack wiring, mocked up a Dodge Ram seat, removed leaking speedo transducer & cable, dug out a bunch of old parts & discovered someone stole an aluminum radiator and factory oil cooler adapter I planned on using, headers are currently soaking in cleaner.

I see a crank position sensor in there but no coils. If he ever has opti troubles he can do a poor man's 4X 411 swap. You get the 411, keep the opti as a distributor, and use only the crank sensor to fire the injectors in batch mode. I unplugged the cam sensor in my truck (350 Vortec with 411) and it drove exactly the same. Forgot I'd even unplugged it!
