Yeah the plugs did what I thought.........nothing. One question was asked of me today and I think I know he answer but not 100% sure is it possible to mount the gear on the end of the distributer shaft 180 degrees off? I personally don't think so but thought I'd throw it out there.
Yeah that's what our general consensus was before he left, if the plug thing doesn't work, which I really don't think it will its going back to his shop and start over fresh like he did when he put her together for me. At least now I can avoid his tow bill to get it there!!
Alright after much wrenching today its alive! Kids were off to school wife was doing whatever she does when they're gone in the house and the old girl and I got intimate and she's alive. This thing is a beast to turn over by hand and oh yeah there is a TDC comp and exh I learned the difference...

That's a big 10-4 on fresh blood shot eyes! Hey I just noticed I'm not a noob any more my status is apprentice!!! That must mean that I don't know sh*t and am dumb enough to ask questions!!!
Yeah it's def the timing way out of whack thought I had it at TDC put dist in pointing at #1 and tried firing it up. It at least whirls over good coughing and spitting through the carb. Bad as that sounds its actually progress. Called the guy who put Humpty Dumpty to gather for me and he said...
Thanks I got it out finally long pair of angled needle nose pliers and held my youngest just right. Got it all back together hit the key and the motor sounded as if it locked up tried it again same thing. Took the distributer back out thinking something was binding / grinding all was good...
Well found my problem after I wasted an hour or so and 20 bucks changing the plugs. Pulled the cap and the rotor button spins round and round! Pulled it and the shaft right out of the dist. It appears that the roll pin that holds the gear on is missing?? Now my next hurdle I can't get the...
Thanks guys. I Know all about the fire tetrahedron, what I do know is the distributer is tight, the carb (prev to leaving me on the road) has been working fine especially the elec. choke kicker down at temp at drops to a nice idle (never remember this back in the day) this thing has been smooth...

Alright I feel kinda stupid posting this but here it goes. Yesterday I thought I ran the old girl out of gas. Was headed to town and when letting her idle up to temp I noticed the gas gauge was pinned below E. I know I had between 1/4 and 1/8 when I parked it so I figured gauge stuck fuse...
