What headers have the best chance of fitting without modifiation?

Well, I just decided to "fix" the Flowtech headers. I know I damaged the ceramic coating and they will rust in that area, but by golly now they fit with 1/4" of clearance! On to tackling other problems with this build... Thanks for the responses!

What headers have the best chance of fitting without modifiation?

Thanks for the suggestion. For better or worse, the first set of headers I bought were stainless ones off Ebay. The listing said they would fit a 1979 Malibu. There was so much interference between the passenger side header and the frame that I couldn't even bolt them up. They were totally...

What headers have the best chance of fitting without modifiation?

HI, First, car is a 1979 Malibu with a SBC350 with Vortec heads and a TH400. I bought a set of Flowtech headers (31104 FLT), and they fit fine, but the driver's side header had a bad weld so they went back to Summit. I just exchanged them for another pair. With the 2nd pair, the passenger...

Replacing floor pans, which seat brackets do I need?

Hi guys, I am replacing the passenger side floor pan in my 1979 Malibu coupe. I got the floor pan welded in and now its time to tackle the braces. I got this brace: https://www.partsgeek.com/catalog/1979/chevrolet/malibu/body_mechanical_-ar-_trim/seat_riser.html But despite the pictures, it...

    Fixing my rusty floor

The passenger side floor in my 79 Malibu is toast. It is super thin in the front and has already been patched once. The rear pan is worse. It's also rusted out around the seat bracket and the center support. Pics below for reference... I bought a complete right floor pan. I have a decent...

    New to me Malibu

It's a '98 Vortec 350. Stock crank, rods, and pistons. The block had minimal wear, so I just honed it and put it back together with new bearings, rings, and gaskets. I used a set of EQ CH350C heads with steel shim head gaskets. I upgraded the cam to a Comp XE282HR with the factory hydraulic...

    New to me Malibu

That shouldn't be a problem. With a minimal interior, no HVAC, lightweight hood, etc. I'm thinking it should be under 3000 lbs. I got bored last fall and decided to build a motor, so I have this to push it along:

Close, I'm in Michigan. I'm actually a suspension engineer at General Motors, so I'm naturally biased towards GM stuff, LOL.

    New to me Malibu

Hi, I guess this is my introduction post. I just bought my first "G-body". It's a 1979 Malibu rolling chassis. It has a Ford 9" rear end (limited slip, 3.73:1 gears), and is set up with a Th400 crossmember and drive shaft. I have a warmed up SBC 350 and a TH400 to install into it. For the...
