I have a set on my cutlass. I really like them but if I were to do it again I would probably get a set of performer rpm's just for the higher power range.
I did one on a jeep a little while ago and I had to sand down the inside of the torque converter as it had ridges in it not causing it to slide on right. It doesn't take much for them to catch up an not slide on.

One thing I think that really sharpens the older trucks up is putting 95+ mirrors on. direct bolt on and they seem to flow better with the body lines. Also if you didn't know pushing the E brake down just far enough for the light to come on will kill your daytime running lights.

My cutlass came with a 305 so really I see no issues swapping in a chevy as the Canadian cars came factory with a sbc.
Phoenyx And how hard is it to install a block heater with the engine in the car (no existing heater, so a frost plug will have to be pulled)? If it's a lot of work, winter's almost over and I'll leave it.

I have a 400 hp 350 in my car right now so I know the transmission wouldn't hold up. Would the pedal setup Master cylinder etc still be a good buy for that price?

Redo your ground wires. Motor to firewall motor to frame and battery to motor. Had a buddy with a ol chevy that had the same issue, We redid the grounds and it charges way better now.
