Cool :D What about gussets at the bottom and top of the uca mounts?

    8.5" B-Body rear into G-Body

Oh nice, thanks for tracking it down. I'll have to keep this in mind.

    8.5" B-Body rear into G-Body

No... it was for a B-Body? Did they say anything about the geometry? If the arms are as much shorter than the factory arms as I've read, that pinion's going to move around a lot... not something I'd want.

    8.5" B-Body rear into G-Body

That's all I ever heard of them making arms for... I've never seen anything about B-Body swap arms, otherwise I'm sure people would've been putting them in already.

BUILD THREAD 81 Buick/Olds Turbo Wagon 02/15/2024 More Parts!

Things are good, life stuff has been happening so there hasn't been a lot of available time/space for the car... i.e. currently in the process of wedding plans, but part of those involve driving the Malibu so I'll be getting it driveable and looking fairly presentable for after the wedding.

BUILD THREAD 81 Buick/Olds Turbo Wagon 02/15/2024 More Parts!

I agree, looking good... mine would probably be father along, just haven't had space/funds/etc.:blam: Good to see you're still around Jack  I don't frequent forums near as much anymore so it's nice to see a friendly 'face'.

    BUILD THREAD 86 GP 2+2~Blown 6.0

Very cool, I have an '87 2.8/5-speed daily, does good on gas but I'll probably leave it stock/close to stock for when my son gets old enough (11 now). So I never really knew the details of your 8.5 score... congrats I hate you now... unfriending on Facebook :bs::friday:

Well I picked it up Sunday, biggest part of the swap is done :P

    8.5" B-Body rear into G-Body

If I got an 8.8 for free maybe... don't forget the flange on the driveshaft or custom length axles. Once it's done all I need is a pair of off the shelf axles for a G-Body, and if the last thread is accurate it's closer to a bolt-in than any other rear, not counting the shortening and bracket...

    8.5" B-Body rear into G-Body

I'm not worried about width, going to have it shortened to stock width (2"-3" overall difference). Not sure of gearing etc., but I'm not worried about that either, cross that bridge when I come to it. The 8.5" B-Body rears are pretty plentiful, so they aren't very pricey. It will also need the...

    8.5" B-Body rear into G-Body

https://gbodyforum.com/threads/trying-to-swap-a-b-body-rear-into-the-monte.5002/ I see he hasn't been around in a long time, so has anyone else given this a shot? I'm about to trade an engine stand for an '80s 8.5", so I guess worse case scenario I could just turn around and sell it.

    Any other factory suspension upgrades?

I swapped in a Z28 bar myself many years ago when I also put on Hotchkis lowering springs (previous springs were worn out stockers with cheap parts store spacers inserted), a stock rear sway bar, and a pair of F41 bars (didn't have the GP cross brace up front yet, have one now though). I don't...

    L31 into an '86 Regal Limited V8

To get the Vortec pump to work, all you need to do is use all the stock parts for a TBI G-Body, and simply replace the stock TBI pump with the Vortec pump. Far as I know, the stock Vortec water pump will work with the TBI brackets, but you may have to finesse the bypass hose a little (goes to...

Nothing that bolts in, but you can use some 1/8" or 3/16" or u-channel to make one out of a stock 2004R crossmember, I did it with the stock crossmember in my '78.

1987 Olds Pro-touring project build - Now with paint

2.13... decent final drive gear. I have a 3.50:1 1st gear Saginaw with a 2.29 rear. With the current tires I have (225/50/16) it's around 1900rpm at 60. Seeing that the tallest T-56 1st ratio is 2.66:1, I can only imagine how much traction you won't have in 1st (probably 2nd too)... I have...

1987 Olds Pro-touring project build - Now with paint

The bumper covers make a world of difference :D I sure hope there is enough adjustability in those arms, no shims on stock suspension would have camber the opposite if what it is now, given ride height (positive instead of negative). I aligned mine last month and needed a ton of shims, and...

bad u joint or belt seperation?

Check u-joints? Wiggle them around... if they move around at all they have play... Tire moving up & down in relation to the wheel? Sounds like separation/old/flat spot.
