Is there such a thing as a 1" tall GM transmission mount? I've been searching online and haven't come up with anything. I have a T5 behind a SBC using a Camaro bellhousing. I'm using stock SBC motor mounts and a G Force X-member for a 700R4. With this setup, the stock height (2") transmission mount would not go in even with the transmission hard against the tunnel. I bought the 'short' (1.6") Energy Suspension mount. It will go in but the transmission is too tight to the tunnel and I have only about a 0.3°-0.5° operating angle at the front U-joint (not enough). A 1" tall mount would work nicely but I'm not sure such a thing exists. I thought I'd ask, since there is such a wealth of knowledge on here.

My guess is I'm going to have to either build my own transmission mount or modify my X-member. I can modify the X-member but don't really want to since it has such a nice powdercoated finish.

Thanks guys!

for 1" I think you would either have to modify the crossmember to accept the stock mount or use a solid mount. Otherwise I have used a couple tractor trailer mudflaps cut and stacked to size ( newfie style baby ) to make my own in an attempt to try and keep the harshness down. Or windshield urethane to fill hollow mounts

1 5/8 was the thinnest I found for my t56 setup.

Yeah, that's the mount I have that will fit but it's still too tall. Thanks for your reply.
Jared, this is from the G force page

"in some cases an rcg-700 installed with a t5 may require a custom transmission mount to maintain proper drive line angle."

Thanks Steve. I was aware of that note and I've spoken with G-Force tech support.

I'm not afraid of modifying the crossmember if I have to. I won't settle for having the transmission in the car sitting too close to the transmission tunnel with an insufficient operating angle at the front U-Joint. Thanks for your reply.
A hockey puck is 1”. Maybe use a 3/16” flat steel and weld a through bolt or two ( not sure on a t5) and make a mount. Guys use pucks for body mounts. That would get you pretty close. timo22
And btw , I have plenty of pucks if you need a few!
Thanks Tim. I was thinking along these lines. A hockey puck is 3" diameter and 1" thick. I was thinking about using the preload plate from the energy suspension mount as a base and welding a threaded insert to it. I figured on having the insert be shorter than the puck, say about 3/4" long. That way the puck could compress some as the bolt through the crossmember was tightened without bottoming the insert on the crossmember.

Bump. Anyone else? Am I searching for a unicorn?

what about drilling two holes in the x member to line up with the two mounting holes in the transmission. Then you can add any thickness of a shim in between
Steve,
Thanks for the idea. I considered two hockey pucks. On under each bolt hole in the transmission tailhousing. My concern at this point is that any through bolt setup is going to only approximate the isolation/freedom of movement you get with a true transmission mount. I think I'm going to pull the crossmember and modify it so a stock mount will work. I don't want a cobbled together solution so I'm just going to have to do it right.
