I don't understand. Are you saying it will not work ?
Let me explain better the unit that's for sale is a posi 7.5 3series auburn, that accepts 28 spine axles. my question is can I buy grand national axles 373 gears and throw this in my bonneville ?

there never was a 7.5 that had 28 spline axles...I'm not saying it won't work but the guy should know what he is selling. For all you know it may be an 8.5 which wouldn't work in a 7.5 housing

I thought some 90s Cameros had the 7.5 with 28 spline axles?

its almost the same lol. i believe its a 7.625 lol they use the same housing. i believe the only real difference when installing it is a different pinion bearing.

pontiacgp is technically correct but I think you guys are getting a little too worked up over an 1/8 of inch. 😉

If the seller says it's an aftermarket Auburn 7.5" 3 series carrier, then it COULD be a 28 spline unit. Of course it could also be a 26 spline as they offer both.

The bigger issue is the spelling of CAMARO! 😉

GM 28 Spline 7.625 POSI with 3.42 Ring Gear, ebay 300 bucks ( 7.5 were 26 spline..7.625 were 28 spline) both used same case..you are good to go

Maybe the guy don't know what he's talking about, now I'm kind of skeptical on buying the damn thing. Anyway I'm trying to upgrade my stock 7.5 rear, so if any of you guys got or know somebody that has what I need hit me up.

it fits just fine.

all you need to do is get the right inner pinion bearing. p/n HM89449. I did this last week with parts I had laying around. Love the Auburn. Mine came from my camaro and has 28 splines. Had to get GN axles but those are cheaper and stronger than a 26 spline posi unit.

Find out exactly what it is before buying it though.

Ok i got it straight now. The guy said he made a mistake in the listing for the differential. He said its a 7.625 from a 90s camaro but it will fit my 7.5 housing. I just got to buy 28 spline axles, and the gears for it to work. Sorry for the mixup.

My understanding is the difference is that the 7.5" axles tend to be two-series crown & pinion sets, and the 7.625" were the larger gears (three series).

What's the axle code on the V6 axle you have? I suspect you'll need new gears. 28 splines were the later axles. A 26 spline is like 1981 early...
