I got an 8.5 12 Bolt rear end today. I'm trying to take it apart to rebuild it. I can't figure out how to get the axles out. I've done it on a 7.5 with c-clips, but not a 12 need some info asap. I'm trying to get them out tonight.

Should be pretty much the same deal as the 7.5 rear.....That 12 bolt is from an A-Body car? If so, they are 8.875 not 8.5 8)

Yea it's from an A-body. I thought the 12 bolt didn't have c-clips. It has bolt -in axles. I unbolted everything but the axles wont move. They may even be rusted in.

An A body 12 bolt will also have c clips, they do make a c clip eliminator kit for them. Pull the c clips and the axles should slide right out, might need a little tug if you turn the drum around and throw the lug nuts back on a couple of threads that usually will do it.

Ok I'll try again. Thanks.

thats my problem. I dont know and I keep getting different answers. But everybody is positive.
