the reason why the olds axle does not have c clips is easy...to remove c clips you have to move the axle in and with the bolt in axles you can not move the axles in.

If it's an olds 12 bolt the axles are bolted in....
I forgot about those olds "12 bolt rears". they are an "A" body car, buy the ring gear only has 10 bolts and is 8.5" and the axle's are bolt in. You can easily tell if it's an olds 12 bolt rear because the differential cover is smooth...JMO here, those rears are junk 8)

They didn't push in when I tried. So the question IS how do I get the axles out?

you've unbolted them so get a puller and pull them off. JBrue may have a good point about the olds rear end, people don't like them cause you can't find any gears or parts for them

if it has the gears you want then it is worth using. It's not a strong as a chevy 12 bolt but it's still a strong rear end and there are guys out there using it

I'm not sure what gears it has. Not even sure what gears I want.

before you go any further check the gear ratio and make sure the carrier is a posi if that's what it's supposed to be. If it's not what you want there are guys looking for an olds rear end so you should be able to sell it.

the axles might come out hard. once you unbolt them you might need a flange and slide hammer to get the axles out of the carrier. i did a "9 bolt" borg warner rear in my camaro and had the same problem.

Thanks a lot. I got them out tonight. It literally took like 5 minutes total. The axle puller cost me $150 though. It's cool cuz it's going back in the morning. I'm trying to figure out how I can use it to pull the rubber bushings out. But anyway thanks for all the help. I started cleaning up the rear end. I even tried on my disc brake backing plates and the fit perfect with no drilling.
