I currently have a set of 15x7 Chevy rally wheels on the front with 225/70R15 tires (they were on there when I bought it). The tires rub when pulling in and out of the driveway. The car is stock ride height and not lowered.
I was curious if anyone had any experience with 215/65R15 (stock size on the 83-88 performance G bodies) or even 205/70R15's. I do not mind a narrower or shorter tire. I just can't stand the rubbing!

I have had 235/60/15 up front with no issues as they are 26" tall (+/- .01") like the 215/65/15. The 225/70/15 is 27.4" tall, 205/70/15 are 26.3" tall. The stock tires, 14" & 15", are 26" tall (+/- .01")

You might be aware but in case not the “XH” steering box found in 16” wheel f-bodies has different stops (same ratio as the SS/442/etc) and won’t rub tires on turns with 245’s. Had this box in both of my Monte’s and it was nice to avoid rubbing.

Ran 225/70-15 on my second coupe, with rub problems. Switched to 235/60-15 and no problems. Both of these were on C3 factory aluminum wheels, with new OE-spec front springs.

The shape of the Malibu fender opening at the bottom front is the killer on these, the other models seem to have rounder openings, where the Malibu comes down without the forward sweep.

I have 235/60/15's on the front with a 2 inch drop

So your "stock" ride height my not be the same as someone elses

225/70R15's should fit with no issues

Stock wheels on a Monte SS were 215/65R15
