At the moment I'm looking for some nice wheels for my 79 monte carlo project.
Found the BOSS 338 rims:

Will these fit on my 1979 Monte Carlo?

18 x 8 Front wheels
Offset: +2mm, Backspace: 4 1/2"

18 x 9.5" Rear wheels
Offset: -4mm, Backspace: 5"

thx,
-Kevin

Hey your copying me! I am looking at these too for my Grand Prix. I also am interested and see if they fit..

not totally sure but I am pretty sure those are way to wide for the rear and will rub like a b*tch on the frame and body  which sucks cause those are nice and a good deal as well. Maybe someone will know for sure but I believe it would need a frame notch to clear and at the very least roll the fender lips

Tony_SS stated on the Pro-Touring.com forum when I was asking the same basic question about his 79 Monte, "4.5 bs on the rears. And that's on a 9.5" wheel. The Nitto 555 runs a tad small so I went with a 285/40 to get a 26" tall tire back there.

I'm real happy with the fit, its basically flush with the unrolled inner lip."

I'm fairly sure he's running a 17" wheel but unless overall diameter is a consideration I'd think either would fit. If you have to, run a 1/2" spacer and put in longer (and stronger ARP) wheel studs.

I believe the fronts would be about right.

I have those wheels on my 88 Cut. I have 18's with nice meat as you can see in my pictures. I am having a small rubbing issue with the back tire but its only one side. I cannot put the front caps on though. and i had to get spacers for the front rims and longer studs for the front.

cool! I already bought the rims but still no tires. got any pics of your cutty? what tire sizes?

Hey Kev, in order for that wheel to fit in the rear you need to do a couple things or go in a few different directions. First, you can roll the lip on the fender in the back and have the frame notched to make room for a 5" backspaced wheel. I have a 4.5" backspaced wheel on my regal and it is really close to the frame. You could roll the lip and run a half inch spacer/adapter with longer, stronger studs as suggested above. I personally would go the safest route and notch the rear frame and roll the lip. Then you can step up and run an even wider wheel on the back if you wanted. I am switching to a 9.5" wheel on the same style I already have on the Road Race Regal, and the backspacing is 5" on those wheels, so I will be notching the frame. Look around the forum for frame notching and there is a link to show how it is done.

The car in my album with the black rims is my baby. I got 275/40 18s on the back and 255/40 18's on the front nitto 555 extremes. On the back the tires couldnt be much wider because mine is barely touching on bumps. But it cannot fit in the wheel well without rolling the fender. The chrome will touch the tire.
