thought i would get this thread started since things are starting to come together.i picked up the 1980 cutlass supreme i was looking at a while back and am currently building a 455 to drop in place of the 307 .the motor is a 76 455 block bored .030 over, squared ,0 decked, crank turned .020 ,and polished .speed pro 18cc dished pistons.im working on getting a set of e-heads redone with new valves ,guides springs and rockers from mondello as well as the cam .should be putting this thing together in a couple weeks.

Are you sure it is a 76??? Looks like it has points.
 
Well it does have points and it was out of a 1974 toronado but I ran the numbers on the block and it checks out as 1976 , so it must have been swapped at some point .
 
2 things of note: Check your piston to bore clearance with the Speed Pro pistons- needs to be .003-.004 Bernard Mondello Performance in Corona, CA is the Mondello you want unless you like things shoved where the sun doesn't shine because that's what you'll get out of Paso Robles. I would also recommend Mark Remmel in FL (cutlassefi here) or BTR Performance in Rochester, NY for cam selection.

Thanks for the advice , it is Bernard mondello he’s figuring out my cam and head stuff . I have threads over on classic olds regarding this build , figured I come here for some of the GBody specific advice when It comes time to do the swap . I have heard of both the other guys you mentioned and they are well respected in the olds community as well

thanks shouldn't be much longer before its ready .looks like were going to get walloped with a snowstorm here in the northeast so lots of garage time in the future
