It's what I thought, an overlay on the taillight lens. It actually looks pretty cool.
You probably could make them, and possibly market them. :wink:

Yeah I just might I think some of these guys would like them
 
I like how they look. I would love em on my wagon 🙂
 
I'd probably be interested in a set myself, but the (Euro( lenses I'm using are '78 style. In other words, the backup lens is in a slightly different position compared to the '79 up lenses. It might still work, though.
The overlays could be cut out on a waterjet. It depends on what material you make them out of. Maybe aluminum?
 
Still loving the tail light trim. JAck, your bumper looks great and I will be copying how tight yours is for mine, lol.
