Re: 1984 Cutlass Calais / BBO 455 build thread THE BEAST LIV

Looks great. The big tach on dash screams race me. Hope you plan to take her to the local test n tune.
Papa the 16" GTA rims look great on these cars. FWIW I have a friend the owns a real GNX and runs 255/50/16s on the rear and 245/50/16s on the front and it looks great. The only bad thing about 16s is that there are less sizes & makes to choose from.

Re: 1984 Cutlass Calais / BBO 455 build thread THE BEAST LIV

Yeah, I have the 16"s for the rear, but 15"s for the front.......wonder if the 245/60/15 or 235/60/15 would look better with the rear 255/50/16......?

Re: 1984 Cutlass Calais / BBO 455 build thread THE BEAST LIV

235/60/15 as they are the same 26.0" tire height as the 255/50/16. The 245/60/15s are 26.6 tall which would look weird ie having taller tires up front than in the rear. Plus I am not sure a 245/60/15 would fit without rub anyway.

Car looks great! You can never go wrong with a stock appearing car. Clean + classy.

Re: 1984 Cutlass Calais / BBO 455 build thread THE BEAST LIV

I know this was an old post but I was considering the same swap. I own an 83 Hurst/Olds. The body/interior is in great shape,
but even though all orig. the engine compartment looks beat up. The car runs great but lacks that BB sound and look.
What problems or concerns can I expect. What components need to be removed .I plan on running A/C and the 2004r trans
any hepl would be great thanks

Re: 1984 Cutlass Calais / BBO 455 build thread THE BEAST LIV

Well time to revive a dead thread! :bump:

Where do I start...
Oh, I know. I broke it!
I put a hole in the #3 piston. Damned if I know how, not a full hole but a half moon punch. Can't figure it out, it was either predetonation or something got into the cylinder. Either way, it still runs, and will still scratch second gear but on 7 cylinders!

So its trashed. :blam:

Good news though, its tax time!
That means another complete teardown and rebuild, this time though, its go big or go home. I mean, forged internals, balanced motor, big cam, headers, reworked heads (sticking with iron, but these damn things will outflow edelbrocks when I'm done), headers, torker II single plane intake, etc. Basically the works. This time I'm shooting for 600+ horse strip motor!

My DD will be a little bit of a toy in the mean time. Its a 2006 Ford Interceptor (or CVPI), ported and polished throttle body and upper intake, underdrive pulleys, 3.73 gears, and a full tune from BOC.

I'll keep everyone updated on the progress, and Merry Christmas!

Sweet can't wait for pics. Now that you'll be running headers what are you going to do with the HP manifolds?
