What color are you painting the engine?
Well if you're reffering to me, it'll be "Olds Gold". And yes I know, since its a 1970 block it should be GM blue  , but I like the gold better lol.

Ok, another week, more progress.
The internals are all finished, oil pump, pickup and all baffels are installed:

Once the oil pan is on, let the painting commence!

After a while I thought to myself, holy crap this actually looks like performance engine now . . .

The TH400 is getting rebuilt as we speak! I may not be finished right on my deadline, but it shouldn't be long after.
Somebody please reassure me that this toronado oil pan won't conflict with my crossmember! I am a little worried.

Re: 1984 Cutlass Calais / BBO 455 build thread

Do I need to get a long or short shaft water pump to work with my 307 accessories? And what mods do I have to make to make them fit the 455?

Re: 1984 Cutlass Calais / BBO 455 build thread

I replaced my water pump on my 455 and I didn't even know there were long/short shaft pumps. I just went in and told them I needed a water pump for a 72 Cutlass with 455 (even though it's in an 83 Cutlass).

My car was already set up, not sure what kind of mods were needed. The guy used a boatload of washers to shim everything into place though, lol.

Re: 1984 Cutlass Calais / BBO 455 build thread

Whether you need the short or long water pump is based on what pulleys you'll be using.

If you're running A/C car pulleys, you need the long pump.
If you're running non A/C pulleys, you need the short pump.

Long shaft HD Cooling W/AC WP is what you use with the 307 Pulleys.
