1984 monte carlo ss build

ok guys if you know me you know i love regals t-type and grand nats but today i bought me a 84 monte carlo ss .with that being said i need you chevy guys help. its gonna be a simple build back to factory specs. first things first what gears are in the rear and whats the ratio. i will post some pics but all chevy guys chim in.

All 84 SS models came with the 7.5, 3.42 rear mated to a TH350c transmission.

thanks im asking all these questions because i have paid the guy for the car but have not picked it up. does it have a posi unit and can i just throw some 3.73 gears in the rear end.

Posi was an option so theres no possible way we could tell you if it's a posi or an open diff. For the rims your best bet would be craigslist, ebay, and forums like this or MonteCarloSS Forum. They arent too rare but I always liked the 83-84 rims better.

posi is code G80 on the trunk lid sticker...

I would keep an open search on Craiglist and post something in the Wanted sections in some of the forums. There's a couple good ones for 83-88 SSs. Also, give mikesmontes a call. He can hook you up.
