Got a set of 15x9 rear centerlines unilugs, and a set of 15x4 fronts for 150$ def a steal just need to get me some lug nuts now... gonna take forever to get 20 from work
But i dont know if they are going to be too short to actually bite into the hole on the rim how much of the lug do i need sitting inside the rim to be safe?
if these are true CenterLine wheels, you'll save alot of headache just ordering their's...
... I did alot of measuring when I bought some used CenterLine wheels, so I had an idea of what to look for
- shank diameter
- shank length
- wheel base thickness (this told me how long the shank length should be before it bottoms out on the hub)
- wheel lug hole diameter
- how long my studs were (this told me if I needed an open-ended lugnut)
The I looked on Summit to get a part-number for the lugnut with the closest dimensions...
... lots of companies make lots of lugs that will fit CenterLine dimensions
but to save the research time... I think CenterLine only makes a few different kinds of lugnuts for their wheels... So the room for error is very little.
I called centerline and the guy told me i need 1/2 in shank, im guessing thats before the washer, im gonna try and get some at work and hope to get em cheap, If not ebay has em cheap and ive seen the open end nuts.
Is it true to race down the track you need open end nuts? Heard it from a few people awhile back
makes no performance difference...
only time a open-end lugnut is useful is when your studs are too long to let the lugnut seat and clamp the wheel down
I measured my wheels and they were about 1.01" thick... And I believe the next size lugnut had a shank length of 0.93 something close.
And for extra safety (to ensure it did not bottom out), I used thicker washers than what came with the lugnuts
... any speedshop should carry lugnuts, CenterLine is so common... and it shouldn't be more than $10 a pack
Ordered my lug nuts, got all 20 for 33$ with shipping what a steal when my work wanted 3$ a piece. Also got some new front runners off craigslist for 40$!! guy had em laying around and didnt want to put him on his street strip car because it would ruin em so I grabbed them today
Still got a lot of life left even though it doesn't look like it in the picture. They are 28x4.5x15 gonna work perfect. Entire Wheels and tires for 290$ cant beat it.
