I like the fact that the slower V6 with overdrive still gets worse gas mileage than the 5.0 with overdrive.

The Turbo V6's will get better than 24 mpg at 55mph. My ported heads/cammed T-type did 23 mpg averaging about 75 mph on a 9 hour/700 mile road trip from Texas to Nebraska last summer.

I always felt the N/A V6 engines had to work too hard to get the weight of a Gbody moving compared to a V6 turbo or V8 which is probably why they don't seem to last in a Gbody.
Most of the Gbodies I have bought had blown N/A V6's in them.

What does age have to do with it? Nothing if the motor was just pulled and completely gone through, all new lines were put in, carb rebuilt, new everything,,,, or else you have 30 years of sludge built up in there... partially clogged injectors, etc.

that went right over your head, Texas82GP posted..."Presumably those ratings are at 55".....I knew he meant mph but being a smartass I asked "what does age have to do with it? :p".....I figured that the :p would make sure no one would think it was anything but a joke but I guess I was wrong....

The engine is so crappy and underpowered you have to floor it to get anywhere.

Mine blew a headgasket at 84,500 miles on the dot. 500 miles after i bought it. Blew a headgasket, smokeshow all the way home. Then the most hilarious rod knock.

My 83 H/O, and 86 442 would be between 15.5 to 17.6mpg

My wagon with the 267, 2.41 rear and no overdrive gets slightly less MPG than my F350 crew cab 4.10 geared dually diesel. Both are slow as hell. For the miserable fuel economy, you would think there would at least be some kind of go-fast (semi-fast?) bonus on the wagon.
