Finally test fit all the pieces of the Serpentine Belt System.

First install the balancer

I added the timing marker from the 307. I used a silver paint pen to highlight the raised numbers

Compressor next. The bolts are made with a flat shoulder to clear the clutch assembly. I filed them a little to ensure clearance.

Crank Pulley

Power Steering Pump ( I decide to use the pump from the 307 since it had the best return line placement)

Now just the Idler and Tensioner to go ( The Idler had a spacer on the back that seemed to be held in place by an o-ring. These were taken off the S-10 and put straight into storage, so the factory more than likely put it there)

With all the accessories and pulleys installed, I just need to use the S-10 belt I cut off the donor to figure out my belt length.

I took a shot at the length and used vice grips to hold the belt in place. You want the arrow and notch to line up for proper belt fitment.

Final assembly test fitting. I like it!!

The taller 455 deck height helps if a person wants to run a mechanical fuel pump. I clearanced the bracket quite a bit and managed to squeeze one in on my 350 and 403. I used the 94 sbc power steering pump, just swapped fittings and lines. The pulley just cleared the steering box with the Olds 350 in my 88 CSC.

I've heard that the pully can be an issue. I guess I'll find out soon enough.

Did a little mock-up on the radiator and cooling fans.

Radiator in the core support and test fitting aluminum shroud.
MVI_1319.00_04_56_30.Still001.jpg

The crude circles drawn on the shroud are for cutting larger holes for the 2000 cfm Derale fans.

I had to use 1x1 inch alum bar to gap the shroud from the rad to fit the fans.

Final result.

I'm going to use a Painless harness to run them. 185 on and 175 degree off.

I still need to figure out the sides of the shroud now that it's farther away from the rad. I'll either make alum side skirts or use a modified pair of core support rubber baffles that usually go in front of the core.

Watched this last night… then started thinking about how do I want to do mine, I love the cold case radiator but would the stock olds 350 fan cool the engine enough or would the electric fans be a better option. I like the stock shroud look.. I didn’t stay long on the subject though because since I just pulled the engine and trans out of my 87 442 I’m binge watching all the rest of hutches videos and writing down all the parts to replace! Can’t thank you enough hutch for blazing this trail and the detail you go into.

Hutch has done a nice job. The 6 or 7 blade clutch fan will be plenty for even a higher horsepower 350. Don't use the 307 5 blade clutch fan.
