BUILD THREAD 1987 Olds 442 Project Build

I've been trying to find someone who has a set of the new chamber heads that reportedly came out last year but to no avail.
I was at the Machine shop earlier this week. He's putting a 350 Olds together right now. The owner had a brand new set of Perf RPM's he brought in with the heart shaped combustion chambers. Looked just like mine with different chambers as far as I could tell. Same 77CC volume I believe.

Those BBO heads just came out this Summer, notice the notch for the fuel pump. The smaller 68cc chamber aimed for the 350, should be out at any time. Mark Remmel worked with Edelbrock on the 68cc version.

Now THAT is a piece of good news! In this age of LS everything, it warms my heart to see ANY company making high end parts for older engines.

I drive a little Golf GTI daily for my 2 hour round trip to work for the fuel economy. My plan was to sell off when I retired and get a nice 78-87 G and put a mild 403/200-4R combo in it for putzing around town. Knowing there will still be parts support is huge! Now if they would only start making 78-80 sheet metal.

I see the Ford 9” earlier in the project. Nice!

Question, does the 87 442 come with 8.5” rear or was that only in the Hurst Olds?

It is good to see new products for the Olds V8. Mark also brought the 3.75" and 4" stroke billet steel stroker cranks in 5140 and 4340, Mahle 10cc pistons for the 350 and 425, Autotec 403 pistons, Molnar direct replacement SBO rods as well as latest version of the Edelbrock heads. Hopefully my 358 with the Mahle pistons, Molnar rods and 330 will get sorted out by the second machine shop shortly.

Put on the Serpentine Adapter Brackets and then the S-10 Factory Brackets. I have to get all the parts installed and get a decent measurement of the belt I'll need.
