thank ill worrie about the trans and diff later i was thinking about using the stock 7.5 with the 373 and making it possi

With the 400-450 that you are looking to make, the torque should be in that neighborhood or more depending on the cubes, but at the track that 7.5 won't hold up. I went through 2 7.5 rears, both had richmond rebuild kits, with richmond 3.73 gears and an auburn diff. I kept busting the ring gears in the thing back when i had a 350 with the vortec heads in my car. I now have an 8.5 with all upgraded internals. I would at least try to find on of those or go with a 12 bolt or 9 inch. I wouldn't build the 7.5 it would be like throwing your money away. What trans are you planning on going with?

im tniking a turbo 400 or 700r not sure yet. my uncle was helping me but he dissapaered on me. i havent herd fron him in like 2 months, thats y im here asking around. he wanted me to put in a 572, but hes one crazy hp freak hes gone 6.90 at the 1/4. with a 79 camarro door slammer

700R4... might cost a little more but you'll have overdrive and can drive it on the expressway.

I have been running a TCI streetfighter turbo 350 in my car since 2001. It held up pretty well to the 350, we will see how long it lives behind the 421. You will pay more for an overdrive than you would a 3 spd, but it just depends on how often you are driving the car and for what distances. A turbo 400 will use more usepower than the turbo 350, but if you are planning on spraying the motor I would go with the turbo 400. They 700 and the 200 are great transmission but you wil give up the money for one that will be able to handle near 600 hp on nitrous.

well the car is going to be mainly for the track, but i wold like to take it to the beach and a couple hangouts from time to time. wont be doing to much hight way, only when i ride to the beach. so the turbo 400 it is then. i got my truck yesterday so now i can pick up the motor. if i get the papers for the truck today. ill pick it up tomorrow.

I paid 125 for a 2004r that came out of a 87 monte ss with 93,000 miles on it then bought this.http://ckperformance.com/200R4_rebuild.html its the kit on the bottom it costed 350 bucks and all the right stuff and they claim it handle 600hp, I have some more things in my trans to buy yet but my point here is you said its expensive to get the 600hp 2004r as compared to another.. well I have a total so far of 475 bucks did it myself. It really doesnt matter how much you drive it! I couldnt imagine not having an overdrive, it saves your motor, and it will live longer!

imma look in to it and see. i really didnt want anything without overdrive sence i wasnt going to drive it much, but thanks for the info.

with the 200 you can use your stock driveshaft if you had a short tail 350 and the crossmember I believe. All you should have to do is push it back a little and drill some holes. but this is all your choice, another plus is you can run some 4.56s and at 65 you'll be chuggin along at 2500. compare that to a t400 with 4.56s at 3800 :blam:

there been a lil delay with the motor. iv had to do a couple things to the truck. so the motor money is almost gone but ill be posting up as soon as i get the motor. but thanks for all the info. i appreciate it . . .will post picks and info soon .
