I've gone with coopers.
1. They are cheaper that Radial TA's
2. They are a bit more "modern" looking in a good way since BFG hasn't modified their tread pattern on Radial TA's in what seems like decades
3. Generally the same mileage warranty
4. Everyone with a camaro that would jump coke cans, has a 3/4 race cam and would win the $100 bill taped on the dash bet, owner puts radial TA's on their car and I didn't want to be associated with that (no I am not saying everyone that buys Radial TA's is like that
)
5. Discount tire has $50-$100 rebates a few times a year and free shipping and saves on sales tax too! If you can find a person to mount them it's a good way to save some coin.
I wish someone made a more performance oriented 200-300 treadwear tire but yeah, the volumes are only to 50-90's cars and there isn't that many on the road anymore. I had a set of BFG traction TA which was a 300ish treadwear directional tire but they are long out of production. Anyone turning hard goes 16" plus wheels so nobody buys them sadly.
Also talked with a former firestone tire engineer and he said cooper back 20 years ago was not up to the level of traction in wet environments specifically but they have improved and are almost comparable to a firestone/michelin/goodyear these days.
