new challenger blind spots
I own one, already told you about the major blind spot from someone who owns one. Straight behind especially with back camera now available isn't bad, straight side to side and the front is good. It is a great car other the 3.5 burning some oil. I would put a gun to my head before owning an ugly minivan of SUV and 99% of them look horrid.

Missing the point of this thread you are... hmmmm...

I'm not saying the car isnt cool; its pretty badass, and a pretty great engineering feat.

I just love how they harp on the fact that its banned from NHRA drag racing because its "TOO DAMN FAST". I mean, thats sort of true. Its really because it doesnt have the necessary safety equipment from the factory to drag race at speeds like that, and you yourself would need Competition License to race it. At least new COPO Camaros already come with everything you need (although I'd drive a Demon on the street before a COPO Camaro). Have to keep in mind that Dodge makes a point that this is also a street car at the same time.

Right, it fills the gap between a Hellcat (street legal) and a Drag Pack Challenger (not street legal)... where the Demon is barely street legal (so much so that it needs a specialty insurance company to cover it - Hagerty).

I think the Demon is pretty neat only because I never thought a car company would build one like it.

But realistically looking at a $85,000-$90,000 car and hell knows what the insurance is, I would rather build my own type of high horsepower car. Especially if I already own it and when it is done my bank account might be lower, but no payments, excessively high monthly insurance, etc. Plus when it is done it seriously could be a 1 of 1 car that no one else has exactly like yours.

I was brought up with the idea that when you work on something, make it your own, you have more pride in it and a better appreciation of the car for what you did to it in making it better, faster, what ever the case may be.

I was curious about what certain Hellcat owners were saying on one of their forums and the 12 year olds were out in force! lol "Hellcat is no good, I talked to my good friend the dealer who will get me one, yadda, yadda, yadda." The negativity and back talk was out of hand, even against a moderator who was just looking for a certain rim to replace a damaged one. The arrogance and just plain filthy language was sickening. Glad our forum is nothing like that one.

Being old school my dream car is still a 427 Cobra or Buick GSX 455. I still remember driving a friends 396 Chevelle and nothing brought a bigger smile to my face then that car. Newer cars might be more sophisticated but there is just something about those big block muscle cars that still make them my favorite all time cars.

'It's like being back in the 60s again, but everything is 10 times more expensive."

Pay has gone up more than 10 times since the 60's
Minimum wage in '65, at least according to the sight I found, was 1.25/hr. In todays money that's 4.25. Now minimum is 7.25, with talks of it becoming $10.

The coverage on the car that I saw on TV yesterday morning couldn't stop talking about how it would pull up the front wheels. If I wanted that I would rather have a car that I built for a fraction of the cost like lilbowtie's Regal.

$100,000 to go high 9's I'm not impressed. I can't believe they didn't even put a cage in the car.

Not really. I pointed out how expensive in relative terms the HEMI was back then. They plain blow away anything GM or Ford has, period, looking good doing it. Sorry if I came off as a dick but we have put over 100,000 km on our Challenger, so I know what is good and bad about them. They are not perfect but a good handling car that atctually looks good and fits 5 people, 4 very comfortably. Most new vehicles must be designed by the blind, just look awful. They are still Dodge's and parts and support for mods are less numerous and the ECM hack for a tuner for a 2011and up took forever, as an example. Still more plug and play than my Olds but less supported than GM or Ford.

When Hellcats came out I thought "who would buy those?" Surprised me when "non car people" I know bought them and daily drive them with big smiles on their faces whenever I see them. Sure its mostly midlife crisis, but they all have 2 kids so a Corvette is out.

A Hellcat Challenger owner can go two directions... he can buy a Demon or buy a Hellcat Charger/Jeep Trackhawk (less civilized or more civilized), but I don't see them getting rid of 707 HP for some thing less (unless forced to)... not with the stock market high and gas at $2.35 for 93 Octane.
