Does the car "feel" heavy?

Thats the biggest complaint I've heard. I assume they handle well enough you don't feel the weight like you would have in an equal weight car from the 80's.

Wont those hood pin.... uhm.... cables.... mess up the paint?!

Is that around Indiana or heading towards Johnstown?

In Johnstown. Found out it is a guy my wife works with, he bought it for his kid to take to college in Alabama.

I have determined that people (aka "journalists") who piss and moan about the size and weight stepped out of 2000s econo-boxes and have no comparable or relevant experience in driving larger cars.

Although I haven't had a chance to drive it at the limit, under normal use (goofing off) it is amazingly planted. I mean the wagon is probably close to 4000lbs, so even if the Challenger is 400-500lbs more I can't tell. Hell, I had the family out in it tonight and the few extra hundred pounds wasn't noticeable - even with a clutch to manipulate.

These cars are pretty incredible.

I was interested in what transmission you have. I think this is what you have, I like how it is put together and the gearing in it ..... 🙂

TREMEC TR-6060 6-speed manual transmission features at a glance:

  • Triple supported output shaft and countershaft
  • Taper bearings and cylinndrical roller bearings
  • All speed gears supported by needle bearings
  • Two-piece gears with laser welded clutch teeth rings
  • Advanced and asymmetric clutch teeth in second and third gears improves shifing action
  • Hybrid and sintered bronze double and triple cone synchronizers offer lightning quick gear changes with fluid-like engagement

That's the one. The close ratio is awesome, and kind of un-nerving - I caught myself putzing along in 4th when I should have been in 5th on the way home. I also spend a lot of time going 3-4-3-4-3-4 as either one feels right with the amount of torque it has. The car kind of begs for 4.10s or better (factory is 3.70s) - even if it will go 100km/h in first. I love not having the .50 6th gear too.

Funny thing is that while the transmission is rated at 650ft/lbs input, the car is rated at 656ft/lbs now. Pretty sure it has a solid 10% fudge factor built in.
