A lambo with an LS, sounds sick and cheap, as you guys know im not really an american car guy but its great that they are changing it up a little bit. Old lambos will always be for sale for cheap too and i think they are still doing a front engine drive corvette for next year too, but im not sure on that.

I like the idea of a mid-engine supercar. Really, I do. But to me Corvette is an essence all it's own. There's nothing else like it. When a new generation comes out you know what it is immediately from a distance. Do a little poking around and youll see that GM has been dry humping the mid-engine Corvette concept for decades. It may happen or this may just be another side project. Time will tell.

It's a safe bet either way. Someone with some pull is all for it. Makes me wonder about these:

I don't know how well they're doing (or have done in years past), but the "real" Corvettes have been doing very well in GT classes for years and the teams behind them have become very capable with years of data and testing dating back to the C5 days (at least) when they finally eeked out ahead of the Viper. (R.I.P.) Perhaps there's been a shift in focus behind the scenes. Maybe they're looking for a new challenge.
Regardless, I have to wonder if the concept vehicle is pulling any inspiration (tech/designs) from the Corvette-branded mid-engine racers.

You all bring up some good points. After its all all said and done I think people will embrace the change. I'm pretty excited about it, I wanna see the nuburgring lap time when it comes out!
I have seen the corvette prototype class watching IMSA races for awhile and never really thought that might be the transition to a street car, but they are mid engine and they've been racing them since 2012.

I'm thinking this C8 might give a lot of foreign exotics a run for their money!

Code name "ZERV" , seems to be a throwback to the Duntov mid engined "CERV" test car of the 60's.

Thought they where calling it the Zora.

I think the mid engine C8 could be cool. I loved my C5 Z06 and being in a corvette club there was people who hated the C6 when it came out and people who hate the C7 when it came out. But they grew to like it and some even grew to love it. Me personally think the C7 is ugly as can be. What im saying is there will always be a market for any corvette Chevrolet comes out with, mid engine v8 or v6 TT or whatever. If they make it, it will sell.

and I should have added that the Corvette was well under 1/2 the price of the Ferrari F430 and the Corvette gets better gas mileage. The Corvette was in a world of it's own and had no reason to change the platform. They should have started another line with another badge if they want to build a mid engine car.
