2020 Corvette to START at $59,995.00 (price updated)

Huh, we have more late-model enthusiasts rolling around here than I thought.
One thing I will say is the "AIR CONDITIONED" seats creature comfort in the last two GMC DENALI's I've leased are a very satisfying solution to the typical hot summer day phenomenon known as "swamp-arse" hahaha...I thought it was the "HEATED STEERING WHEEL" in the winter but I'll take the "butt chiller" on these hot days over it anytime!!!

HAHAHAHA

Some of us get dragged kicking and screaming into the present. 🙂

I was buying "late-model" since 1982. Always had some old iron, but back then, the "old" stuff on this forum was considered the "new" stuff. Can't remember a time I didn't have a 68-72 A-body Olds, though.

At least there's a few good reasons to buy late-model. The wife's '16 CTS isn't a car I'd run out to buy from my perspective, but it's got some nice safety features and BlondeStar that makes me worry a little less when she's out and about. Stuff that 10 years ago wasn't available.

I'm original owner of the 87 Olds by the way...first NEW car after high school. Had a few older ones prior, (2 73's, 80, 83 Diesel) and later an 89 Red/Silver W-body International Series. It's hard to turn a blind eye to the current generation of performance cars available, they are quite fast, reliable and somewhat efficient. I got 32 mpg with C7, top up, a/c on trip to Atco on I-95 when that Displacement on Demand was active. (4 cyl mode).

>>BlondeStar.... LMAO!

All of those safety features are what pay my bills. And my newest car is 10 years old 😉.

Not mine, but it looked like this with T-tops. Blue 82 Z28 was my first "new" car. Olds dealer wouldn't deal for whatever reason. A hair over 13K MSRP but I got it for less. Still have the 85 442 I bought new and that was just over 16K. And interest rates weren't fun back then. I was looking at an 84 H/O with vinyl interior in late 84 when the dealership (not my local Olds dealership) got their first 85 442 and it was white with blue interior. Who knew that would be a very rare color? I test drove that too and ultimately decided to order an 85 (in black). Had to give up my $50 deposit on the 84 H/O, but it all turned out ok.

The new Vette looks definetly cool, and the mid-engine might finally push the Vette to be a serious competition to cars like Porsche 911 Carrera, but I doubt that the handling will up to todays state-of-the art. I really do hope for it though, because a Vette for 60K with top handling and a whooping V8 sound would outrun a 120K (minimum) EU-sportscar.

UNFORTUNATELY, thanks to the new emission-regulations starting on 01/01/2020, new us-models with V8 engines will be banned in the EU, except if they comply with "Euro 6d", and to my knowledge up to now only the Ford Mustangs fullfill this standart. Officially Chevrolet as pulled the Camaro and Corvette from the european market since they don't want to have them homologated and deemed the sales figures as negligible in their books 🙁 As a european I find it hipocritical: we ban US cars for their large displacement engines, even though they give correct emission information to the consumer, but we keep allowing tweaked european/asian cars where the customer gets sh*t on. don't get me wrong here, i don't mind spending more for a full tank and driving-fun, but I want it to be fair for all, consumers and manufacturers alike.

Both Nice cars but that Cutlass makes the vet look better!
I would have to agree, I get much more compliments around town, and at cruise meets/car shows with the Olds than I do with the Vette.., Olds just got some nice wheel/tire upgrade this weekend, here's a link in case you missed it.
