2020 Corvette to START at $59,995.00 (price updated)

2020 Corvette is $59,995 for 1LT version base price. Just $3,000 more than the current Corvette. Which is saying something for what the upgrades are. 2LT version is $67,295, and 3LT version to start at 71,945. The hydraulic lift to keep nose from scraping speed bumps and stuff is a $1495 option.

BUT- the 2020 model year is essentially sold out, according to the Corvette head designer.

I really figured the 1LT would be close to $70K. If it doesn't turn out to be junk, they'll sell the crap out of these I think. Well, I'm guessing that the POS dealerships will markup the hell out of them, so they'll probably be close to 70K+ with the markup.

Cannot wait until those 2010 Camaros start becoming the parts cars the '98-02s were.

I was calling BS on that until i ran the numbers. I see SO many more 4th gens it seems than 5th gens. Camaro+fbird prod for LS1 98-02 cars is 158,000 from my quick calcs. I ran the same numbers for 5th gen camaros (only NA 6.2 cars no blower or v6) and got 137,000

So there are less V8 5th gen than 4th gen but not THAT many less. ~86% of 4th gen production.

Got to say they accomplished their goal, had a buddy that was looking at older exotics like Aston Martin and NSX's. He said he might go for the Vette instead because he really likes the look of it.

But about 1/2 of them or so, are automatics. Which means you get that stupid V4 mode (except the ZL1). That would have to be fixed with a cam and lifter swap. So as far as the LS3, that's the one you want if you want to install it, add some headers and fly. The 6.2 is a beast when you do it right.

After re-reading the comments, it's just as I thought. The new Corvette is either liked or not. Not much of an in-between. I like it. If you don't, then that means you won't buy it, leaving room for me to get one later, as apparently 2020 is sold out. Granted, it appears it'll be a short model year, but still. Sold out the model year before being built? Not many cars can say they could do that. That's how you hit a home-run. Maybe in this case, you could call it a grand slam. We now can sit back and wait until the initial quality reports come in.

The Hellcat was a short first year run that sold like hotcakes. And yes, the C8 is a very polarizing design.

In Road and Track's article the new"Vette" can beat the last years Vette in a drag race but nothing else.

I saw that too. They tested a pre-production car, so final tuning was far from completed. So that needs to be baked into their analysis. It's good to have a baseline though for feedback, but until they test an actual production car, I'm not pressing the I believe button on everything they say is going to be "bad". I'm betting there's been 4000 tests and tweaks done after they tested the pre-pro car.

R&T did admit, it's only the beginning. The C7 and prior had years of tuning to the suspension to get it to handle like a beast. The C8 fresh out of the box almost eclipses it. Once they get the experience with it, I totally suspect it will be one helluva car to beat both in the 1/4 and around the twisties. And for significantly less than the high-end mega buck cars. And it won't take long to get there.

Boost it with a Turbo or supercharger, and make some changes to handling characteristics, and come back for the show in 2021 or 22. I think the naysayers will likely sing a different tune. I truly believe this car will be putting some pressure on all the other cars in the sector, regardless of price.

For me, I would take it as is and have some fun.
