3.73 Posi

Your gas mileage should be about the same with a 200-4R and 3.73 as compared to a TH350 and 2.56 gears. However, the higher stall converter lets the engine spin higher before engaging. Some correct me, but does this mean that the engine always spins higher while going down the road?
Thanks Bud, that makes sense. What would a 225/60/15 tire do for my application...? Is that comparable to a 28" inch tires?

225/60's are about 25.7" tall.

28" tires would be like 275/60's. 255/60's are 27" tall. Neither of these will work in front.

235/60's are about the largest rotable size that will fit on 15X7's and they are 26" tall, which is why 3.42's work a little better than 3.73s' for highway cruising.

Not to sound redundant, but I just want to make sure I'm clear: are you saying 26" or 28" would work best with my application?

Also, are you saying I can't run 27" or 28" tires on the front for my application?

28" tall tires will rub the fenders in front on all G-bodies and 27" tall tires will rub the inner fenders in front on a cutlass.

Unless you trim/re-shape the inner fenders, most people stick to 26" tall tires in front. In back, 27/28" tires fit G-bodies unless the car is lowered and the wheel offset is off.

What's the down-side to running 235/60's all the way around? Or what would you put on the rear, with 235/60's on the front?

I have 235-60-15 on the fronts and 255-60-15 on the rear on 15x8 1982 Corvette ralley wheels.

I don't think 275-60-15 will fit and clear on the the rear with 15x7 Olds wheels, but, that's based on my experience with Monte SS and Malibu body cars.

215-65-15 was the original tire size for reference.
