Ok, as I process the latest replies, I'm hearing essentially that my 2500 stall/2004r transmission will compliment my 3.73 and nullify the gas issue..?

Also, taller tires+Over drive, "waters down" a 3.73 as opposed to if that same 3.73 was in a 350 or other 3 gear transmission

Your gas mileage should be about the same with a 200-4R and 3.73 as compared to a TH350 and 2.56 gears. However, the higher stall converter lets the engine spin higher before engaging. Some correct me, but does this mean that the engine always spins higher while going down the road?

28" tall tires with 3.73's gives about the same effective gear ratio as 3.42's and 26" tires. not exactly but close.

OD and taller tires makes 3,73's livable in 2017, and not make it feel like its still the 1960's when super fast cars ran 13's and gas cost 27 cents/gallon.

On the street there is nearly zero difference in rear gear acceleration numbers. 3.73's are more prone to spin street tires and 3.20's gears with a 2500 stall would probably be quicker with a lower revving "torque" motor and would definitely provide better gas mileage on the highway, but the 3.73's will "feel" quicker.

Ok, it's starting to make sense a bit. I'm running some rally wheels with my application....so spell it out for me: what tire sizes should I buy to match 28" tall tires?
