All this talk of a dwell meter with no specs to shoot for or how to hook it up....
I have one my dad left me; never used it in 30 years of tinkering with cars.
Dwell meters are easy to use. Black clip goes to any ground, and the green clip goes to the green dianostic plug which is normally not plugged to anything. set the meter to dwell mode and only use the 6 cylinder scale. On is lean and off is rich. A low dwell number is a rich command, a high number is a lean command, 30 degrees is the middle or half of 60 degrees which is what you want. Only read the dwell after you make an adjustment and put the air cleaner lid back on and let it settle down. It isn't hard to do. If you are not getting any responses from the adjustments, then there is a problem. If the computer is stuck rich for an example, you have a lean problem and vise versa.

somewhere i read that there are two IABs, one with writing on it that is set to a certain height and then to adjust dwell you turn your idle mix screws. and then there was the type that you set your idle screws and adjusted dwell with the IAB. something about having a letter on the top ment you left that one alone, which is the one i have. as i stated in my first thread my concern happens with high load and about half throttle. im not getting an off idle stumble. and i do ahve a dwell meter but its about 250 miles north of me at the moment with all my other tools. i did turn the iab in an 1/8th turn and so far i have no had any issues. the only way i will know for sure will be once i head back home.
