I think the 200hp is a rough guideline, who's to say it's not gonna make that # with your foot to the floor on cool nite after the simple upgrades? in stock v8 form it's gotta close.if it was me and I already pulled the trigger on the set up,id throw the usual go fast goodies @ it and go.

worst thing about a LG4 305 is the tiny *ss cam, if its a factory 4 brl engine then its more than likely got the big valve 305 heads that work great for a cruiser, they have fairly large intake ports also, but if it was mine I would swap cams and install at a min a 3.42 gear in the rear. a deeper gear will turn a slug into a fairly decent driver alone , if he are working with a steep gear like a 2.73 and swap gears you will also get a thank you letter in the mail from your transmission.

you gotta figure the 92 G92 5 speed 305s in the third gens were making a factory rated 230 hp and they still had a single exhaust back tot he muffler.

I saw a guy on youtube, I believe he is reputable, install TrickFlow heads designed for the 305 and they are supposed to be great.

Think about it, How often do you trurly go over 5 grand 305 HO heads are just fine for street cars, first thing he needs to do is get a good gear. having 300hp in front of a set of 2.73s isnt exactly exciting.

Sadly not sure on the LG4 or L69, is it stamped on it anywhere? I know the block casting number#14010202

Oh I totally agree, luckily I have "fast" cars. This Belair is just a cool cruiser for me, I don't care about it being fast.
