Just a cruiser!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah I am still hoping to find an 8.5" rear for my "cruiser". Even though there is nothing wrong with the 7.5 for "cruising"

When I was going to build the 403 in my 80 I had planned on using a set of early 350 heads 5, 6, or 7 using the 403 sized intake valve. As well as this cam http://www.compcams.com/Company/CC/cam-specs/Details.aspx?csid=1180&sb=0 . Add in a good 200-4r with a D5 converter headers with a good exhaust and an 8.5 with 3.42 or 3.73's should get a "cruiser" that'll pull at least 13's on street tires all day long.

That's what I'll be doing. 403 with #5 350 heads to bump compression into the mid 9's. I'll use the 403 intake valve, deck the heads .020-.030 to compensate for the thicker head gaskets that are available today, a smaller Edelbrock Performer Plus cam, Edelbrock Performer RPM intake, 750cfm carb, Thornton shorty headers, true 2.5" duals, 455 BBO oil pan, serpentine conversion. I have TH-350 automatic, and T10 4 speed manual transmissions to choose from. I'll be using the original 7.5" rear axle with a F Body Torsen unit, rear girdle w/ main cap supports, and a 3.08 gear. Cruiser... If it runs 13's, cool...

Do you have 93 available? You will need it will 9.5 to 1 and that cam. I ran 9.6 to 1 with that cam in my 350. It liked to ping even on 91. I retarded the part throttle timing around town and ran very cold NGK 5670-8 spark plugs, felt meh driving around town but ran equal to mid 14's in the 1/8, a 9.4 with more in it with a 2300 stall, 2004R, 3.42's in my 3750 pound 1988 Cutlass Supreme Classic. I would seriously aim for 9 to 1, the cam will act even smaller with 53 more ci. It will make driveability nicer as you can add much more part throttle timing, it makes an Olds V8 feel crisper.

Do you really need to go 60-70-80, I mean your state speed limit is still 55:banana:
Here in the Northeast speed limits are a suggestion. At certain times of day if you're not doing 85 on the parkway you will get run over.

Oh yeah, that was just sarcasm. The LIE was always the same way. If you weren't doing 80-85 in the left lane, someone will flip you off, cut you off, and brake check you hoping you lose control, flip over, catch fire and die because you aren't going fast enough. That or when the light turns red for cross traffic if you aren't moving as the light turns green, 15 cars behind you will be laying on their horns and cursing you out.
