My buddy in Chicago's 86 442 with a Q-jet 403 will do 12.50's all day long using the cruise and AC on the way to the track and back. They frown upon the AC condensate on the track, so he has to turn it off during runs.

A stock 403 short block and early 330 or 350 heads is an easy 9 to 1 recipe but the heads flow better on the exhaust side. Very interested in this upgrade. I always found the early 307's acceptable, if not good for their time. Nearly everyone who complained about the later swirl port heads.

The Olds 307 is an excellent engine for what it is any year.

Great reliable little engine

I doubt it

Its a fresh rebuild buy a shop I never dealt with. So I have to dissemble it and check everything or I will never be at ease with it

Agree 100%. I don't just run Olds V8's to be different. They were much more durable than the sbc till the mid 80's.

A perfect candidate for a head swap down the road. I would swap the lame 186/200 .400/.402 cam and degree it. Good luck.
