Re: Build Thread, What I've done so far

Thats what I was thinking too. Then put the amp and stuff in the tire well.

Yeah, maybe I'll change my mind once I blast and paint the blower motor.

I'm still undecided on the hood...

Re: Build Thread, What I've done so far

A couple updates:

I sold the 2 subwoofers I got. I need money for a carb, and I figured I'd rather listen to my exhaust than my stereo 8) . Plus I didn't really want to run all those wires.

Picked up the 7.5" posi yesterday (4.56 gears). It's real clean, I'll have a picture up soon.

It was in a drag car, the guy had to use the car to get back and fourth to work a couple times, ended up blowing the transmission because of the gearing. Still undecided on what ratio, thinking 3.08 right now, but know theres 3.42's in the junkyard...

Still looking for a carb.

Re: Build Thread, What I've done so far

Does anyone know how much I could sell these gears for??

Re: Build Thread, What I've done so far

So when we had to tear the engine back apart (before we put it in the car) to put the galley plugs in, we took the cam out to check it out. It's a comp cam, and I got the numbers and everything off of it and did a little search on them. This is what i came up with. I know it's not for an olds, but the intake and exhaust lift specs. are the same.

I'm a noob when it comes to cams, and was wondering how this engine should run: This cam^^, the crank is 10 under, not sure on brand or type of pistons, bored 30 over, edelbrock 600cfm carb, headers. Everything else is stock...

Re: Build Thread, What I've done so far

What were the numbers on the cam? I'll guess around 300hp maybe... definitely more pep than a stock cam.

Re: Build Thread, What I've done so far

What heads? What head gaskets and was the block decked? That cam will work well with low compression. You will have nice low end torque, what the Olds v8 is famous for.

Re: Build Thread, What I've done so far

Numbers are: 80-49-92 (and a seperate stamping) HMV-260-2-NC

No idea on the head gaskets or zero decking. We just left the heads on since we saw the pistons are brand new.
# 8 Heads though.

What stock heads and head gaskets will give a little more power?
