Re: Build Thread, What I've done so far

Ditto on no stripe, I don't think it would look that great with brown. If it was black I would say it'd look good without, or with a black or orange stripe.

Re: Build Thread, What I've done so far

Thanks for the opinions guys. I think I'll stick with no stripe. Later down the line I want to get the thin chrome for the bottom of the rockers, hopefully that will tie it all together well.

Worked my butt off this weekend on the car! Got everything all ready for the most part. All I need to do is pick up the V8 rad. and shroud, hook it up, Run the starter wires (with heat shielding) and run the vacuum lines!! I have next week off for T-Giving so it should *fingers crossed* be running that week sometime!

Re: Build Thread, What I've done so far

MY NEW ENGINE IS RUNNING!!!!!!!!!! I'm so pumped

Couldn't get the edelbrock to run right at all, but my buddy let me borrow his holley for now. Man that thing is loud with open headers. lol ended up buying a new starter too.

I guess a rebuild or possibly a new carb is on the list now. It was kind of just dumping fuel down into the manifold. If you hit the throttle it would'nt "snap" it would idle up after a little bit of delay... We actually couldn't even get it to idle with the e-brock.

It's really a bummer that winter is rolling around real soon.

Imagine that... I've never liked those carbs. No matter how many people praise them, I will never buy another.

Get yourself either a Quadrajet or a Holley Street Avenger. You'll be very happy with either one.
Quadrajets are great all around, and the Street Avenger's are too, and don't require the frequent tinkering that a traditional double pumper(4150) would.

Re: Build Thread, What I've done so far

always stick with original,i say a quadrajet, they're easy enough to understand how they work and easy to fix

Re: Build Thread, What I've done so far

Your "anti-lock door knobs".. Are they just like a milled & threaded piece without the bump on the end so they cant get hooked with a coathanger? I did something similar too, turned some aluminum knobs and knurled the ends for grip.. dont know how effective it is but its worked so far 😀

Re: Build Thread, What I've done so far

I used a pair of lock knobs from a Ford. They're smooth and don't have anything for a coat hanger to hook to. A thief that knows anything about G-Bodies will still be able to get in within seconds though.

Re: Build Thread, What I've done so far

Exactly Joe, it was just roundstock aluminum, made them on the lathe at school. Yeah, just needed a project to do, so why not right??

Re: Build Thread, What I've done so far

Sounds like you need to do two things with that Edelbrock: Number one is clean out the float bowl and blow out the passages with a can of carb cleaner. Number two is to check the float level as it may be too high and the dripping could be through the booster venturis.
