No listed price typically means - If you have to ask, you can't afford it.

Then add $1500 for a custom built torque converter.

I won't be able to find it but in one of his videos Calvin mentioned the plate was cheap enough that it wasn't worth building one. Sub $200 I seem to remember he mentioned.

Converter offset is the same offset as LS stuff so if you run a SBC th400 behind the atlas you just need to make up the .4" crank flange difference (plus the thickness of the adapter.) Not a custom converter but custom mounting stuff. Which raises a question, I don't know if the atlas is a flat or dished style flexplate. I don't remember seeing anything special need to happen but I could be wrong.

But to your point, it's another hurdle that makes it less attractive for most people. Both cost, parts, and question marks.

Surprising that cheap.......I can't see them selling more than a dozen a year.

Even if just needing custom pad location for converter bolts.......probably looking at PTC, Yank, Circle D....$800-1000.

Love seeing Atlas stuff everywhere now, been a big fan of it since I first heard about them a few years back. Cool to see how much power they were able to get out of it, I've heard some people laughing them off over poor block strength and this is starting to prove them wrong. Even stock it makes as much power as a 5.3 truck motor and seems to love the boost.

Seems like the biggest struggle these days of trying different motors with lots of power is a brick wall of transmission options that you need a chunk of change to get through.
Personally I have about 10x as much money in everything behind my engine than into the engine itself now because power is so easy to make now and it's so easy to blow up transmissions/differentials

Well said, it easy to make power but other than the TH400 and 4L80E, any other trans needs everything upgraded or tunnel mods and electronic controls. A 9" rear or S60 is also big dollars. Of course they aren't much different than a used G body 8.5" and much stronger. I would consider one if I didn't basically have a 424 Olds that needs machine work and a truck home. The Atlas make a better truck engine than comparable sized LS motors, a very flat torque curve and decent horsepower too.

Well, they found the limit, 30+ psi of boost and 800+ WHP, not bad at all. A rod let go.

But Calvin is going to try again with a rods and piston motor to see what the block will do. Either way, that's pretty awesome for a stock soccer mom SUV motor.

Absolutely, more than most of us will ever need.
