Then add $1500 for a custom built torque converter.
Surprising that cheap.......I can't see them selling more than a dozen a year.I won't be able to find it but in one of his videos Calvin mentioned the plate was cheap enough that it wasn't worth building one. Sub $200 I seem to remember he mentioned.
Converter offset is the same offset as LS stuff so if you run a SBC th400 behind the atlas you just need to make up the .4" crank flange difference (plus the thickness of the adapter.) Not a custom converter but custom mounting stuff. Which raises a question, I don't know if the atlas is a flat or dished style flexplate. I don't remember seeing anything special need to happen but I could be wrong.
But to your point, it's another hurdle that makes it less attractive for most people. Both cost, parts, and question marks.
But Calvin is going to try again with a rods and piston motor to see what the block will do. Either way, that's pretty awesome for a stock soccer mom SUV motor.Well, they found the limit, 30+ psi of boost and 800+ WHP, not bad at all. A rod let go.
Absolutely, more than most of us will ever need. But Calvin is going to try again with a rods and piston motor to see what the block will do. Either way, that's pretty awesome for a stock soccer mom SUV motor.
