That's a solid 1k wheel hp level outta a 5.3 equivalent. Not bad for a stock head, bottom end, exhaust and intake manifold!

I'm still grumpy they hold such a premium compared to LS stuff. An 06 LS is $350-$500 known ruining with a warranty from the salvage yard but these Atlas engines seem to be $750-1500. Much less available loose in marketplace too.

I wonder if it has anything to do with how much more of a hassle they are to get out of the donor vehicle. LS out of a Silverado in a couple hours. Atlas out of a 4WD Envoy, not so painless.

I bet your on to something.

It's not like trailblazer and envoys are worth much that they are worth fixing if they blow up
It's not like they are fail prone engines
And it's not like there is a ton of interchange to other chassis

If I could grab a $250-$350 4200 I'd buy it and stash it under the workbench but it's not worth $750+ that I'm seeing.

Maybe just buying an entire wrecked car and pulling the engine myself is the best option?

I am searchingfor a whole tralblazer for the stashing away. I have seen one here go for $500 but there was something about it that I was freaked about, I don't remember.

I never had to replace an engine in one but other guys I worked with did. Seemed like it was 25-ish hours.

Help me. Marketplace has been utter trash for months, I've sold 2/5th of my fleet in the past 2 years and not added anything since 2017, and have an urge to buy something dumb.

Now I see a glimpse of something semi worth buying and my standards have gotten too low because of my dry spell and I am actually considering it.... I think I need to go to therapy...
