442 vin and title value?

he took the shell with the frame. i am not talking about putting vins on a non 442 at all. i have a couple reasons, one my 442 i own is not even in my name because of a out of state title and needs to be inspected which means it has to be driven there under its own power with running motor, seat belts and that stuff, i just got it running and having possible transmission issues, its a real 86 442 that i bought as a rolling shell, no interior, no motor adn i brought it back to life. this to me is a back up if there is a title issue on mine. the other option is i can hang onto it and if i come across another 442/44c parts car that has title issues or no title i can have a clean title rather then a branded one if i have to apply for a salvage title. i am in no way trying to pass off another cutlass as a 442, that would be retarded.

and who said i was trying to clone a car??? i am talking about saving another "442" from going to the scrapper based only on the fact that it doesnt have a title.

So what are your doing making sure you have a clean T for yours or Getting a car without a T.. Either way its Illegal some people do it but others have Been caught.. The best way not to get caught is by not putting it all over the Internet like you have and keeping it to yourself.... Just my two Cents

Even though some of the examples above are dealing with stolen cars, why would you change VIN and title on a vehicle other than to increase it’s value (also known as fraud), which is another reason the laws are on the books, both at state and federal levels.

If there is a title problem with the vehicle you’re building , you fix the title problem legally (even if that means a bonded of salvage title).

heck ya all want to get on me about a vin swap and laws. from what i am reading online you can get in trouble for (without filling out paperwork and dmv inspection) swapping as much as a partial frame rail, complete frames, engines, SPEEDOMETER clusters and judging by the number of ralley gauges i have sold on this forum and ebay there are allot of people commiting federal feloneys. some states can require a assembly ttile for swapping as much as a front clip off another car onto yours... i guess all of us car builders are criminals now, well that is if you are gonna follow the state laws of car restoration.

nope! much different, just do it the right way, get it running, or make it a track only car... or if ya look for support on here for something like that most people are going to tell you the right thing to do...

most real car builders dont do vin swaps period... if you were asking about putting an extra light or two on your car, i would simply offer you an opinion on a fix it ticket, when you talk about committing a federal offense, only one way to respond to that

your right that is not against the law its when it makes its way on another car that is.. Then it is false representation..

You should just drop this subject now because its most likely going to get out of hand on opinions you apparently dont want to hear..

you all are accusing me of cloning a car, i have the motor that matches the vin, i have the z code transmission, i have the entire 442 interior minus the console, dash and carpet, i have the doors, the deck lid, the front clip, the original suspension parts minus the frame and rear end. i have most everything that makes this car a 442 and you all say screw it and let another 442 disappear?

i dont think i read a post accusing you of cloning a car, but what i have read is that what you are trying to do is a federal crime, i hope you dont do it, and find it easier to just go through what is necessary to register your car or just drive it in car shows or on the track... you can find another 442 (there was one on another thread for 2600, nice one too)... since you are the type of person that would ask something like this on an open forum, i strongly do not rec you to commit this Federal Crime, because you are more than likely going to get caught.

ok, lets recap... anytime you take the vin/title off of another vehicle and use the same for a different vehicle/equipped with a different vin/title, you have committed a Federal Crime, which can lead to 5 years Fed time (at 80-90%)
