Im out to. This guy just want to justify himself so he feels he is doing no wrong. Why ask a question that you know is going to get responses back you dont want in the first place. :blam: :blam: :wtf:

Older cars didnt have numerous vin on the cars was much easier. Make sure you get every vin pertaining to the 442 because there is more then two. Good luck at doing that i know most people wont check for them but a true collector buying it will.

I would not even have posted this thread...
If you wind up going through with it you now have WRITTEN documented evidence against you, premeditated with full knowing that it's illegal.
Not good... never put anything in writing.

The guys who do it on the '60s muscle car circuit know *exactly* what they're doing and how to do it. Done correctly its impossible to tell its ever been done. There are lots of things that have to be *exactly* correct, right down to the type/style of number stamps, locations, everything. Not saying it can't be done, but a lot of research, know-how, and ability is required.

i read guys about all these guys online that have had titles and vin tags for 30 years to cars such as say a 68 camaro ss and sell the vins for 1000s of dolalrs... i really honestly have no intentions of building a car from it right now but in 30 years when you cant find a 442 i think this thing will hold some sort of value. i have actually read several things online that if you document the swap with the dmv you can do it legally but i am trying to find more info on it. i use to hang out with guys back in high school that swapped several truck cabs and swaped vins with them to replace a rotted cab and had no issues getting them inspected...

SO back to my original question, ASSUMING that i have NO intentions of using this vin and title for myself and i am gonna have a clear and clean title in possibly sell at a later date say when there are very few 442s left. what should i pay for this?

Well, seeing how you can buy a rotted out junk 442 for about $500  I would say its VIN tag and the title are worth about ... $1

just forget it guys, i will buy this thing if he isnt wanting too much for it, maybe someday it will pay off for me, maybe it will end up in the trash and worthless.
