The cast lower shield, at least in the GMT400 trucks, was only ever a 4wd item. 2wd used stamped shields, no need for all that mass. Does cutting the ears delete one of the bolt holes for mounting the shield?
Not planning on putting anything on there. Just chop the tabs and drop the swap in

The piece that covers the flex plate and torque converter, yes. I thought you were referring to something else that may be missing. I’m just going to chop off the tabs seen in the pic. If that’s ok to do.

That seems to be the consensus. A friend had to chop the ears off of his 6.0/4L80 to fit headers in a swap into a late 60s pickup, same deal.
